The foundation of my company was born out of frustration when I noticed that most families weren’t able to afford access to family photography services.
I mean, School and Newborn Photography were priced in the $300’s PER SESSION! And with those prices, the results were often unattractive, rushed and in poor taste.
And let’s not forget about that Package F selection, you know – the cheapest, most unattractive, unsatisfying print-purchase option available.
Well, I decided that families should NOT have to choose between quality, price and print options.
On a personal note, I recall a time when a school teacher connected me with the principal of a very low income, socioeconomically challenged, Appalachian elementary school. It was Easter Time and we had over 300 students (100 students in 3 hours) show up for the photoshoot.
One student, in particular, gripped my heart. She had a severe case of developmental delays and was prone to behavioral outbursts with crowds, lights, strangers, and sounds. But I was up for the challenge!
That day, the teacher who was very familiar with the student and her family’s situation, asked if we could include her siblings (from other grades) into one picture because she knew that the mother couldn’t afford multiple prints. I agreed and the photo was processed, designed and returned to the teacher.
Following the delivery of the photos, I received a message back from the student’s mother. She was in tears and filled with emotions when she saw the picture because she had never had a photo of her daughter smiling, nevertheless a photo all of her children in it. Per the teacher, she sobbed uncontrollably with joy as she proudly displayed her photo their family’s refrigerator.
